Ezekiel 1:1 In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the exiles by the Chebar canal, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

Ezekiel saw You and was commissioned by You while he was in exile.  He’d been dragged far away from his home, the Promised Land, and would probably have thought he wasn’t in the place he was meant to be.  Yet You spoke to him right there, where he was, and set him to work.  He didn’t have to get out of his situation first, rather he had to start what You wanted him to do in the middle of his situation.

It’s easy for me to say “I’ll do this for You when…”, or “I’d be able to do that if…”.  The reality is that You don’t make my life wonderful and perfect before calling me – You call me where I am.  Give me ears to hear You and a heart empty of excuses.
