Losing Jesus

Filed under: Uncategorized — andykiff @ 6:58 pm

Luke 2:43 And when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it,44 but supposing him to be in the group they went a day’s journey, but then they began to search for him among their relatives and acquaintances,45 and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him.

Jesus was right where he should be but Mary and Joseph supposed He’d be with them.  It didn’t seem to be something they thought about.  After all, Jesus was usually with them and He’d been with their group.  Where else would He be but with them?  It seemed obvious to them that Jesus would be with them and following their itinerary.  They never thought that He’d have different plans to theirs and that, to Him, there were more important things to do.

This is a wake-up call to me to find out where You are and to be there.  My plans are just that – my plans.  Sometimes they’re inspired by You, sometimes they’re all me, but I assume You’re with me whatever.  I don’t stop to check whether in following my path I’m leaving You behind and wandering further away from You with every step.

Lord help me to know when I’m in the centre of Your will.  When I start to wander off track give me an immediate sense of having left something important behind.

  1. I enjoyed this post. Christians often think that Jesus will go the way that they want to go, but thats not necessarily true. He calls us to follow Him. The closer we walk with Him, the more He will live through us and the way that we go, will be His way.

  2. This makes an interesting reading. In life, its worthy to determine where to be and where to go at the right time. Not only will you not lose track of your bearing but you’re sure to be on track to the fulfilment of your purpose. Like the boy Jesus, let’s step down on our team player role somtimes and be where we shoukd be and go where we should go to the benefit of the mankind we want to save.
