‘In love’

Revelation 2:4 But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. 

Some people talk of a distinction between loving someone and being ‘in love’ with someone.  There’s no clear definition as to what the difference is but it would seem to be a matter of passion.  ‘In love’ is exciting, fresh, unsettling, sleep-depriving, distracting, all-consuming, risky, life-changing, mind-blowing.

Lord, in my marriage and my walk with You, show me how to be deeper in love each day.

Hosea 5:15 I will return again to my place, until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face, and in their distress earnestly seek me.

You don’t walk away from me, I walk away from You.  I put myself in a place where You say, “Enough, I’m not staying here with you.  Come and find me where You know I’ll be”.  It’s easy to tell myself that You’re always with me but sometimes I need to know that You’re not standing silently by while I sin.  A good Father doesn’t approve when their child is doing wrong.

Thank You that You are my Father – that you don’t stand idly by when I wander, and that I always know where You will be to come back to.
