Genesis 3:8 Then they heard the Lord God walking in the garden during the cool part of the day, and the man and his wife hid from the Lord God among the trees in the garden.

The thing with starting a new reading plan in chronological order is knowing that, by the end of the first day’s readings, it will all have gone horribly wrong.  Adam and Eve will have disobeyed the only command that was given to them.  They couldn’t just ignore the big red button with the sign that says “DO NOT PRESS”.  It always saddens me, even knowing how things radically change later on, that the simple, innocent intimacy with You was lost.  Adam, who used to walk and talk with You face to face, hid from You.  He knew he’d sinned and couldn’t face You.

Thank You that things did change.  Thank You for Jesus. Thank You that I don’t need to hide, even though I so often do.  Help me to come before You in simple honesty and humility when I’ve sinned and to ask for the forgiveness I could never deserve.
