Psalm 22:1  My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?
2  O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer,
and by night, but I find no rest.

3  Yet…

I love the honesty of the Psalms.  When things are going badly, the authors don’t try and pretend that everything’s fine and it’s all a matter of outlook and positive mental attitude.  They tell it like it is.  If life stinks, they say so.  If You feel distant, they don’t pretend You feel close.

… there is an unshakeable belief that You are God, that You’ve proved Yourself before and are capable of doing so again, that You are the only hope when the situation is hopeless.  Lord give me the honesty to be real about how I’m feeling and not pretend I’m always ‘fine’.  Give me the certainty that no matter how I feel, You never change.
