Genesis 32:24 And Jacob was left alone. And a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day.

The crowd is where the emotional highs are experienced, where it feels like heaven is really touching earth.  The crowd is the place of encouragement, of spurring on, of believing the impossible may just be possible.  Alone is where the hard work lies.  It’s the place of fighting, wrestling, kicking and screaming, questioning, doubting, resolving.  It’s where the real and painful stuff happens.  When there’s no-one else to stand in the way, when there’s no borrowed experience, when there’s no distraction.  It’s one on one.

I hide in the crowd too often, scared of facing up to You alone.  But I know that alone is where the real life change takes place, in all its brutal, bruising honesty and openness.  I want that.  I need that.  Bring it on.
