Overstepping the mark

Filed under: Uncategorized — andykiff @ 7:32 pm

2 Chronicles 26:16 But when he was strong, he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the Lord his God and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.

Uzziah was a good king.  He did what was right before You and looked after his people and his land.  He became strong but he forgot where his strength came from.  He thought he’d reached a level where the rules didn’t apply to him any longer, so he wilfully disobeyed Your rules for the temple.

It’s always a temptation, when things are going well, to overestimate my own abilities and my own greatness.  There’s a danger of forgetting who grants success and stepping outside the boundaries that are set for me, trying to push things further in my own power.  Lord give me the wisdom to realise I’m nothing without You and everything with You.
