Good man, bad leader

Filed under: Uncategorized — andykiff @ 6:14 pm

2 Chronicles 27:2 And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord according to all that his father Uzziah had done, except he did not enter the temple of the Lord. But the people still followed corrupt practices.

It’s interesting that as  aperson, Jotham did the right things.  There was nothing to say against his actions as an individual.  As a leader though he failed.  He may have set a good example but no-one followed it.  Leadership is more than modelling a behaviour I want others to exhibit.  It’s more active than that.  It has to start with setting the example so that my words are consistent with my actions and then it involves communication – explaining to people where we’re going, what the standards are, what’s expected of everyone.  Example does not equal authority.

Lord help me to lead well where I’m called to lead, to be active in bringing about Your purpose through myself and others.
