Weighing it up

2 Corinthians 2:12  When I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ, even though a door was opened for me in the Lord,13 my spirit was not at rest because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I took leave of them and went on to Macedonia.

An open door doesn’t demand that I walk through it.  It presents a choice that I can accept or reject.  It’s too easy to think that if an opportunity arises, it must be from You and I should grab it.  I tend to jump at every chance to do something new or different without stopping and checking whether it’s the right thing to do.

Paul found himself in a situation here where a door was opened for him to do Your work but it didn’t sit easily.  He didn’t feel it was the right choice.  When there is an open door in front of me I need to stop and search my spirit.  I need to know that You opened it and that I should walk through it.

Help me Lord to hear Your voice directing me to walk through or to walk on.
