The wrong wall

Filed under: Uncategorized — andykiff @ 7:52 am

Ecclesiastes 2:11 Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing to be gained under the sun.

It’s easy to spend my life climbing the ladder of success and realising it’s resting on the wrong wall.  When I get the top, I won’t find what I was expecting.  Solomon tried it all in a search for happiness, including trying to find fulfiment through work.  It left him empty and hopeless.  It’s just another thing that can steal all my time and effort and leave me with nothing to show for it.  Working for a living, not being lazy, providing for my family – all these are good and right.  But the moment that work becomes something I look to for happiness and fulfilment is the moment that I go off track.

Lord help me to see that all I need is in You and not in anything else I might spend my life chasing.  Give me more of You.
