The long rejection

Filed under: Uncategorized — andykiff @ 6:56 pm

John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. 11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.

When I think of what Jesus went through for me, it’s easy to concentrate solely on the cross.  That’s quite understandable given the extreme physical, emotional and spiritual pain he suffered over those hours.  That final moment of separation though was the culmination of a lifetime of rejection.  Other than a faithful band of followers who largely proved faithless at the vital moment, Jesus spent his whole life being rejected.  The world was made through him but they failed to recognise him.  He was ignored or opposed not just by people he’d come to save but people he’d known before time began.

I could add this to a long list of ‘things to feel guilty about’ – that my sin was the reason he suffered in this way.  Instead I choose to add it to the much longer list of ‘things I don’t deserve, can never repay, and can only marvel at’.

Thank You.
