Death to the law

Filed under: Uncategorized — andykiff @ 7:06 pm

Romans 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

There’s only one right way out of marriage, according to the vows taken: until death parts us.  At that point the promise is complete and the vows are fulfilled.  It’s over.  In the same way Jesus’ death brought closure to the old covenant, sealed by me dying to my old self.  The law is dead.  Long live grace.

No matter what rules and regulations I try to put on myself, I’m free in You.  It’s not about meeting a legal standard any more.  It’s all about accepting the sacrifice You made for me and believing that it alone is enough to save me.  There’s really only one valid way to live in light of Your love: gratitude.

Thank You Lord.
