Wishing grace

Filed under: Uncategorized — andykiff @ 8:47 pm

Romans 16:24 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

The simple verses are the ones that I can easily skim over or ignore in my search for something deep and profound.  But is anything really more deep and profound than grace?  What the author prays here for the Romans is probably the extreme of good wishes.  More than health, wealth or happiness, he prays for grace to be with them.  Undeserved favour from Heaven.  Does it really get any better than that?

It’s the ultimate prayer for friends and it’s the ultimate prayer for foes as well.  By wishing grace on someone I’m acknowledging that they don’t deserve this good but I pray they get it anyway.  That sounds dangerously like loving my enemies.

Lord may Your grace be with me at all times and may I always be aware of it.  I want to be as free in praying it to others as You are free in giving it to me.
